We’ve introduced Enablement Groups in Brivo to improve safety and ensure buildings and secured areas open only when the right staff are present. This message explains what an enablement group is, how it works, and what (if anything) you need to do.

What Is an Enablement Group?

An Enablement Group is a special group of users who are authorized to activate a door’s scheduled unlock by presenting their badge.

Even if a door is scheduled to unlock at a certain time, it will remain locked until a member of the enablement group arrives and badges in.

This ensures that a building or area does not open unless an authorized person is on site.

How It Works (Simple Example)

A door is scheduled to unlock at 10:00 AM

That door requires an Enablement Group

At 10:00 AM, the door does not unlock automatically

When a member of the enablement group badges in:

o    The door unlock schedule becomes active

o    Other authorized users can then enter normally

Until that happens, the door stays locked.

What This Means for You

If you are NOT in an enablement group:

No change to how you use your badge

You may notice doors unlock slightly later if an enablement group member has not arrived yet

If you ARE in an enablement group:

You are responsible for activating access by badging in when you arrive

Once you badge in, the scheduled access begins for everyone else

You may need to arrive on time to avoid delays for customers

If you arrive much earlier than the scheduled unlock time, then simply swipe your badge at the schedule opening time to activavte your showroom’s scheduled unlock time. (i.e. 10:00am – 5:00pm)

Important Notes

Being in an enablement group does not limit your normal access

Enablement groups are used only to activate schedules, not to restrict access

    You may belong to both:

o    A regular access group (where and when you can enter)

o    An enablement group (to activate access for others)
